Be prepared for a soul revival as Texas native Dan Dyer charms the crowd at this year’s Festival. He’s a music vet with 20 years in the game and you’re sure to see him bring his all to the stage.

BIO:

Dan Dyer greets his second decade as a musician with a self-titled album. From this soul-revivalist recording, produced out of an old snake-charmer church turned studio on the east side of Austin, emerges a spooky, diaphanous, and bright release drawn from an ever-deepening soul.

Coming from humble beginnings in a small east Texas town, Dyer quickly rose to prominence in Austin during the late 90s with the much-heralded band Breedlove. After many years of back-to-back releases and touring, Dyer took a few years to winter from performing; living in St. Louis, raising a family, and further developing his unique solo sound. Sensing a need to return to his musical roots, he started making trips in 2006 to Austin, his musical birthplace, to advance his career.

His most recent self-titled release on Fat Caddy Records has a strong, underlying cadence that ties the album together and entices one to discover its many intrinsic subtleties. From the chain-gang inspired “Love Chain” to a gospel take on Dr. John’s “I Walk On Guilded Splinters,” Dyer and producer David Boyle weave a diverse fabric that extends beyond conventional musical boundaries. There is always music in the haunts of Dyer’s wandering soul; the soul of a melodious character filled with talent that is impossible to chase away.
